The BringBackTheSwanseaCorkFerry.com
e-petition Hall of Fame !

Every entry on the e-petition is gratefully received - as the sheer volume of responses we are getting proves that the restoration of the Swansea Cork ferry is probably the most important issue for communities at both ends of the ferry link. The more entries we have - the more convincing is our argument - so we thank you for your comments.

We read every single comment that you send in - and sometimes there are comments that are so ‘right’, or touching or just make us chuckle that we’ve decided to show them here in our Hall of Fame....

Please tell us what you think - fill out an entry on our e-petition today !

This has almost destroyed local tourism in Clonakilty and West Cork. Summers can't possibly as busy now because many of the people who used to visit west cork cannot because the CORK - SWANSEA ferry has ceased operations. Please bring it back before it is too late!

Absolutely ridiculous, are you sure Gordon Brown has not been dispatched over to your shores with his team of experts and bu***red that up as well?

We run a retail business in Bantry and relied heavily on the ferry for deliveries of goods from England,on the tourists and holiday makers delivered every mornng into Cork, and for our personal use for trips to and from England. The Ferry was a Godsend and the alternatives now are inconvenient wasteful of time and fuel and expensive. Please let us have a ferry for the good of all in West Cork.

As a 70 year old widower and grandfather of 3 boys who live in West Cork, it is now a tiring 3 day trip to visit. I have to break up the journey, as it is a lot of driving for one person.
I can now only visit twice a year so I really hope the ferry is reinstated.
It means I can see my grandsons growing up.

Please--even if it must be subsidized, it's important for this part of the country.
We pay for the roads, why not the ferries?!?!?

Too old to drive the long distances, so will no longer go to West Cork without the Swansea - Cork ferry.
Dominic wrote-
This is a major opportunity lost to Cork and Kerry. A suitable vessel is needed in order that both passengers and freight can be accommodated, in such numbers, to make the service viable at all times of the year.
Where there is a will, there is nearly always a way. If sufficient organisations and individuals get behind this Petition, things can happen.

I lost a third of my business turnover last year, as did many other in Clonakilty.
The service is VITAL to Cork and Kerry!

We need this service back. We live in Cornwall but have family in Cork. All the extra driving to Penbroke and then from Fishguard is a nightmare with little children.

We have not visited Kerry or Cork since the ferry which took us there disappeared. I doubt if I'm the only person of whom this is true.

I think its outrageous that Swansea Cork Ferries should have taken so much funding to set up, and then pocketed the cash when they sold the boat and "done a runner". Maybe they should pay back some of the money to help fund a new service if they wont restart themselves. We having been going to Kerry for 16 years and the journey has gone from being a pleasure to a nightmare. Bring back the Swansea Cork Ferry.

We loved visiting Cork and Kerry, the wonderful places, hotels, golf courses and enjoyed superb food. Now we have abandoned our breaks there as the long travelling now required on alternative routes is too much for us, and flying is not an option. What a shame for all concerned and affected by the loss of the ferry.

We used the Swansea/Cork ferry three times a year, arriving in good condition after a nights sleep. We felt fine about the drive west from Cork. Now we go less, the trek back to west Wales after the holiday takes about three hours longer than getting to Goa by plane I believe! The cost with the added petrol is about the same too. Bring back the Swansea/Cork ferry...

We are writing to add our support to the campaign to bring back the Swansea- Cork Ferry. We were frequent travellers on the service to our home in this beautiful part of the world until its closure in 2006, and now find that the added driving time on both sides of the water makes our regular visits to W.Cork less attractive. If you value the livelihoods and enterprise of the people of W.Cork who have worked to make this part of Ireland such attractive competition to other European destinations, then please restore their life line.

This loss has damaged our tourist industry so badly - do the politicians not see this!
Please bring it back soon.

Not only has much needed revenue been lost to the South West of Ireland - the same is true in reverse Swansea & the Gower also need the tourist & business trade.
Please reinstate this ferry

Having moved to West Cork in July 2006,
I had used and wanted to continue to use the SCF.

As I understand from reading many various articles the Ferry
was viable and made a profit.

Why isn't the Irish Government doing something to get this important link
to the economy of the Munster area back up and sailing.

It's all well and good talking the talk but we actually need the ferry to sail.

If this was happening in the Dublin area and let's say the Holyhead to Dublin
sailings stopped I'm sure the ferry would be up and running again
within a very short space of time.

What does it take for politicians to realise there is life outside of Leinster?

Maybe it is because we in Cork do not count
as all we are, are rebels without a cause
as far as they are concerned - well we are about to become rebels
with a cause if the ferry doesn't start up again in 2009!!!

I have been trying to find any information re this ferry since it suddenly deceaced a couple of years ago.Our journeys to our cottage in Kerry are more than treble the road time and are ghastly during late autumn & early spring,as it is dark for most of the time. We need a ferry as we always take the dogs, bedding, luggage ++
We can never find anyone to explain what is happening .
Who has fingered the money from the sale of the old ferry?
Do they conveniently forget the millions that they received for the old tub?
